This summer, we’re breaking ground to address fish passage and habitat on Alpine Creek in La Honda. A culvert and old, non-functional fish ladder limit movement of aquatic wildlife. This project, funded by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Fisheries Restoration Grant Program, will remove the barriers and improve instream condition to provide an additional three miles of habitat for adult and juvenile fish, including federally protected coho salmon! RCD staff and fisheries biologist have been out to relocate fish from the project area before construction crews begin work next week.
