We are sad to report that the highly invasive species New Zealand Mudsnail (Potamopyrgus antipodarum) has been found in Pescadero Creek. This snail has been linked to the displacement of food sources critical to threatened and endangered salmonids that call the Pescadero-Butano watershed home. Please commit to preventing the spread of this pest: do not enter the stream unless absolutely necessary, and take extra and serious precautions when entering the stream and moving to other waterways by fully disinfecting all gear. More information and proper disinfection protocol can be found at https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Conservation/Invasives/Species/NZmudsnail.
